Korean Satellite DMB Usage Rates Soar During Typhoon
September 14, 2005
During the strike of Typhoon Nabi, the viewing rate of news broadcasted via DMB, normally around 10%, hit a new high to 25.9%, according to Korean DMB broadcaster TU Media. The company attributed the increase to the need for real-time information access during times of natural disaster, regardless of time or place. In addition to keeping up on the general state of damage, TU Media claims the service may also have been used to avoid trouble-spots when outside the home.
